What the Day Training module adds

Muttmates Core is the spine of your back office: clients and dogs, the diary, prices, payment links, receipts, reminders, emails and settings. This manual covers only what the Day Training module adds on top, so if you have not read the Muttmates Core owner's manual, start with that.

Day Training is for a business that runs training days on-site — a Puppy Kindy, a day school — rather than one-to-one sessions. It adds:

• Training programs: a pattern of days — Puppy Kindy, Mon/Wed/Fri, 8:30, eight places — with the dogs enrolled on it. Give it an end date and it becomes a block, and every date is made at once.
• Requirements checked as a dog is booked: too young, too old, or vaccinations not current for the day — refused with the reason, before it ever reaches the diary.
• A waitlist: book a day full and the dog waits; a freed place books the first dog in line and emails the owner.
• The register — a page of its own, not just the ordinary booking screen: every dog on today's days, Arrived, Collected and Absent with the time, a note, and a link straight to that dog's day report.
• The day report, home with every dog: how today went, what you worked on, what to practise.
• Block statements — one button on a program that bills every enrolled client for the whole block at once, one email, one Pay button each.

Day Training is available on every plan. If it is installed but not on your plan, you get one quiet line about it under Settings → Plan and nothing else — no banner, and no data touched.

Your Day training page

Your services → Day training in the rail opens the page. Four tiles: Today reads 5 of 8 with 3 here now, or "no training day today"; Next 14 days counts the days on the diary; Waiting, in red once it is more than zero; and Owing on days for the fortnight. Beside the heading sit + New training program and Today's register.

The tab row:

Note that the first tab shares its name with the first thing under it — Training programs the tab, Training programs the pill that opens the pattern list — which is simply how a tab is named here: after whichever entry comes first.

The main column leads with Training programs: every pattern, its days and time, its places, whether it runs open-ended or to a date, and how many are enrolled — or paused if you have switched it off — each with an Open button. Under that, Next days: the coming fortnight's training days, each with its capacity pill (green once full) and a waiting pill where a day has a queue. The side column is Requirements — every dog whose vaccinations have lapsed or were never given a date, for a day it is actually booked on, each with a Fix link straight to the dog — and, under that, Core's own Needs marking off for any day in the past nobody has ticked off yet.

Setting up what you offer

A training day is a service like any other, filed on its own tab: Services & prices → Day training. Two are set up for you the first time the module runs — Puppy kindy day at $45 for 480 minutes (eight hours) and Day school day at $55 for 480 minutes — change the names and prices to yours. There is no separate "Where" field on the service: a training day runs on your premises, at the venue you give the program, or the service's own location if you leave that blank.

Training programs — the pattern, and turning it into a block

A training program is Core's weekly pattern, used for days: Day training → Training programs → + New training program asks for a Name, whether it's Active, From and Until, the Days it runs, the Time, a Capacity (eight by default), the Service (price & length), Where / notes, and its Regulars — the dogs enrolled from the start.

Leave Until blank and it rolls on, creating the next fortnight of days as a rolling pattern, same as any weekly pattern elsewhere in Muttmates. Set an Until date and it becomes a block: a fixed run — a four-week Puppy Kindy course, say — and every date in it is made the moment you save, not drip-fed a fortnight at a time.

Because these copy onto each day when it is made, changing them on the pattern reaches only days not yet created; open a single day to change its own drop-off time, age band or "what to bring" for that day alone.

Requirements — kept out before they become a problem

Every time a dog is added to a training day — by hand or by the pattern booking a regular on — it is checked against that day's own Youngest, Oldest and Vaccinations:

A refused dog simply is not added — no booking, no charge — and the reason is what you see on screen. Vaccinations are the date you already hold on the dog under Core's own fields; there is nothing extra to fill in there beyond it, though Health / handling notes for the day — allergies, medication, "nervous with big dogs" — has its own box on the dog's profile, under Day training, and shows on the register.

The waitlist

Book a dog onto a day that is already at capacity and it does not bounce — it goes on that day's waitlist, in the order added, with a notice telling you so. The day's own Waitlist box lists everyone waiting, each with a ✕ to take them off by hand.

When a place frees — a dog is taken off, or you raise the capacity — the first dog in line is booked in automatically and the owner is emailed your a place has come up wording, with the same details as the ordinary confirmation. Nothing more is needed from you; it happens the moment the place opens.

The register

Day training → Register, or Today's register from the Day training page, is a page in its own right — not the ordinary booking screen. It opens on today, with ‹ and › either side of a date picker and a Today button.

Every training day on the date is its own card: its name, drop-off and collect-by times, how many are booked against capacity, and how many are here now, plus What to bring if the program set one. Under that, each dog:

• the dog's name, the owner's name, and the owner's phone as a tappable link
• a health or handling note, in red, where the dog's profile has one
• flags where they matter — due $X, and a vaccination flag only when this day requires it: vax ✓ or vax lapsed
• the dog's markers, and its state with the time — Expected, Arrived since a time, Collected since arrived, until a time, or Absent — plus a note if one's saved
• Arrived, Collected and Absent buttons, and a Report link, reading Report ✓ once one's been sent

Tap Arrived as each dog is dropped off, and again to undo it. Collected completes the booking; Absent records a no-show. Under each dog is a plain text box — Save — for a note about today: ate lunch, tired by 2, played with Max. Nothing else here needs saving; every tap takes effect immediately.

The same three buttons — Arrived, Collected, Absent — also sit on each dog's row on the day's own On the diary box, so you can mark a dog off from the day itself without opening the register at all.

If your site also runs Daycare or Training's classes, the rail's Register entry opens a shared hub first — one place to start the morning when more than one kind of dog turns up in a group — with an Open register button through to Day training's for that date. With Day training the only register on the site, it opens straight here.

The day report

Every dog's booking on a training day carries a Day report box, in place of the training module's session report or the walking module's walk report: How today went — settling in, play, who they made friends with, naps, the good bits — What we worked on, two or three things in plain words, and Practise at home, short and specific; leave either blank when there's nothing to add. When the dog has been marked in and out, the report also carries a line naming the times and today's note automatically, so you rarely need to repeat it.

The Day report panel on the side of the booking sends it: it shows whether one has already gone, offers Mark the day Completed when sent, ticked by default, then Email the owner, disabled until something's written. Preview ↗ shows the email as the owner will see it, in your wording from Branding & emails.

Every day report a dog has had is listed on the dog's own profile, newest first. Core's Reports page, and the Reports tab on the Day training page, sorts every one into To write, Drafted and Sent — the same as every other kind of report on the site.

Block statements — billing a whole program at once

Set an Until date on a program and it becomes a block, and its side box changes to The block: it names when the block runs to and how many dogs are enrolled, with Send block statements.

One tap sends one email per enrolled client, covering everything they owe for the block, one Pay button for the lot — a client whose pack or credit already covers it gets nothing, so it is safe to press more than once as the block runs on. This is the right way to bill a four-week Puppy Kindy course as one payment rather than chasing each day.

Settings and set-up reference

When something goes wrong

A dog I tried to add wasn't booked. The register or the program will have shown a reason — too young, too old, or vaccinations lapsed or missing. Fix the dog's record, or the program's age band, and add them again.

A dog landed on the waitlist instead of the day. The day was already at capacity when they were added. Raise Capacity and save, or wait for a place to free — the first dog in line is booked automatically.

The Email the owner button is greyed out. Nothing is written in the report yet, or the client has no email address — the box says which.

Send block statements did nothing for some clients. Their pack or account credit already covers what they owe for the block, so nothing was sent — by design, not a fault.

There's a Register entry in the rail but it doesn't go straight to Day training's register. With more than one register-using module on the site (Daycare, Training's classes), the rail opens a shared hub first; use its Open register button for today's training days.
